Attack on Titan Creator Hajime Isayama Offers His Actual Manga Desks For Charity Auction
Hajime Isayama, the creator of Attack on Titan, had a colossal weekend at the world’s third biggest comic festival in the world, the Angoulême International Comics Festival in France. Not only was he awarded a special prize but he revealed that he’s auctioning the desks he draw Attack on Titan on for Doctors Without Borders.
As part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations of Angoulême International Comics Festival, Isayama was awarded a special prize in recognition for his work on Attack on Titan. The award was handed out on January 28 at a special ceremony in France.
Meanwhile also at Angoulême International Comics Festival, Isayama’s working desks, which were used by him and his assistants, were on display and revealed to be up for auction with all the proceeds going to Doctors Without Borders. In the above video, Isayama explains that the desks were specially made by his father in his hometown of Hita in Japan to limit distractions while creating.

Isayama noted that due to digital drawing becoming mainstream in Japan, the use of large desks has become irrelevant. The desks are up for auction until February 11 and as of writing are currently ranging from 510 euros (US$555) to 1,750 euros (US$1,902).
