The kick-off has begun between the Aoashi manga and the Scottish football team Celtic F.C. for the soccer collaboration of the year. While full details are light, the first part of the collaboration is an illustration by manga creator Yugo Kobayashi of Celtic F.C. player (and player on the Japan national team) Kyogo Furuhashi doing his signature “mushroom pose” alongside Aoashi main character Ashito.

The original Aoashi manga is serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits manga magazine, and an English-language version is also available from Shogakukan Asia. Crunchyroll currently streams the Aoashi TV anime, and describes the story of the series as follows:

After a loss in his last junior high school soccer tourney, Ehime Prefecture’s ace player, Ashito Aoi, is devastated but in every loss there’s a victory. Tatsuya Fukuda, manager of an organization that trains students for one of the leading clubs in the J-League, sees Ashito’s raw talent and offers a tryout to his group. Together they’ll bring the youth club and Aoshi’s talents to new heights!
