Anisong Duo ClariS Drops Lycoris Recoil Opening Theme Performance Video for THE FIRST TAKE
Following “Connect,” the opening theme for the 2011 TV anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica, anisong duo ClariS performed their 24th single song “ALIVE,” the opening theme for the summer 2022 TV anime Lycoris Recoil, for THE FIRST TAKE. The YouTube channel that delivers one-take performances by popular Japanese artists launched in November 2019 and has attracted 6.85 million subscribers.

On September 30, ClariS appeared at THE FIRST TAKE for the first time and performed “Connect” with their masks removed. The video has been viewed over 3.89 million views in two weeks. Their second song for THE FIRST TAKE, “ALIVE” was released in Japan on August 3, 2022, as their 24th single, then ranked eighth in Oricon’s weekly single charts.
The two members of ClariS, Clara and Karen say, “‘ALIVE’ is a song with a sense of speed and power that has not been seen in our previous songs, so we put our whole heart and soul into singing it. The tempo of the song was slowed down and the arrangement was more dramatic than the original, so we were able to sing with more emotion and the meaning of the lyrics more fully than usual. Since ‘Lycoris Recoil’ was an original TV anime, it was very interesting and fun for us to see how the story developed since it started airing, and we were very surprised that the response from people was more than we expected. We feel really happy that the song ‘ALIVE’ was being enjoyed along with the anime.”
