Tactics Ogre: Reborn Story Gets Spotlight in Final Trailer

 

A new preview is here for Tactics Ogre: Reborn, and it’s being billed as the “final trailer” in Japan. This one offers up a look at the revamped strategy-RPG’s story ahead of its November 11 launch.

Synopsis:

The Valerian Isles, jewels of the Obero Sea. Long a center of naval commerce, the people of the isles struggled throughout history for dominion over her shores.

 

Finally there rose a man to put an end to this conflict: Dorgalua Oberyth. But history would know him as the “Dynast-King.” King Dorgalua strove to stamp out the hatred among the people of the isles, and for fully half a century, Valeria knew prosperity.

 

Yet upon the king’s death, civil war erupted anew as three factions vied for control: the Bakram, who comprised much of Valeria’s nobility; the Galgastani, whose people made up the majority of the isles’ population; and the Walister, who numbered but few.

 

The isles were soon divided between the Bakram and Galgastani, and an uneasy peace settled across the land. Yet none believed the calm would last…

 

The Tactics Ogre series started with Ogre Battle, the first entry of which—Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen—launched on Super Famicom in 1993. Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together followed in 1995, and was eventually remade for PSP in 2010. 

 

Some of the aforementioned changes include updated visuals, fully voiced dialogue in English and Japanese, remastered sound effects, a redesigned battle system and more. Composer Hitoshi Sakimoto even rerecorded the entire soundtrack with a live orchestra, and you can see the first footage in the announcement trailer below.

 

Tactics Ogre: Reborn will be available both digitally and physically on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC on November 11, and Japan is getting a pretty beefy collector’s edition that’s exclusive to the Square Enix e-STORE. The ¥22,000 (about US$164) edition packs the game with a three-volume script book; an art book full of work from Akihiko Yoshida, Tsubasa Masao and other artists; a set of tarot cards and a mini soundtrack CD.
