Crunchyroll to Present Anime Music Experience at Porter Robinson’s Second Sky Festival

Later this month, Crunchyroll Anime Shelter—a special anime music experience—will be appearing at Second Sky, the annual music festival organized by musician Porter Robinson. Crunchyroll’s Anime Shelter space at Second Sky is a nod to SHELTER, an animated short film written and executive produced by Porter Robinson in association with Crunchyroll in 2016. Crunchyroll Anime Shelter will be bringing three DJs from MOGRA, the iconic Akihabara night club, to the US for the first time since 2019:

  • D-YAMA opened MOGRA in 2009. Since then he has brought MOGRA’s anime club scene to an international audience through tours in the United States and Germany as well as on Twitch.
  • Taku Inoue is a pop/dance music producer who served as a member of BANDAI NAMCO’s sound staff for nearly a decade. He has contributed to THE IDONM@STER and TEKKEN series and is a resident DJ at MOGRA.
  • DJ WILDPARTY is a Japanese DJ and resident DJ at MOGRA who has partnered with various vocaloid talent and his tracks have been featured in THE IDOLM@STER MILLION LIVE!

In addition to the featured DJs, Crunchyroll Anime Shelter will also include photo opportunities, interactive activities, and a Crunchyroll-branded bar serving anime-inspired drinks. Crunchyroll is also providing prizes for the Second Sky Cosplay Cup that will take place on site within the Crunchyroll Anime Shelter space.

Speaking about the event, Porter Robinson had this to say:

MOGRA is one of my favorite places in the world — the all-night anisongs and incredible live VJing is an experience that has become rightfully famous worldwide and it’s somewhere I go every time I’m in Japan. Crunchyroll (who helped in the creation of SHELTER) are bringing MOGRA to the US with Second Sky — if you’re coming to the festival don’t miss it!” said Porter Robinson

Second Sky takes place Saturday, October 29 at Oakland Arena Grounds in Oakland, California and features artists personally curated by Porter Robinson. You can purchase tickets at Second Sky’s website.
